Profile

The Swiss National Committee of the International Geographical Union (IGU) represents the special interests of the Swiss geography in this organisation, and informs about the IGU in Switzerland. It is one of more than 80 national committees of the IGU.

The National Committee is a member of the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) (previously called SAS). The Academy supports the National Committee's activities with significant financial contributions.

The National Committee consists of a president and the Association of Swiss Geographers (ASG)'s committee. A group of geographers from Switzerland assumes the active representation in the IGU. Their work is supported by the geographical institutes' infrastructure as well as the secretariat of the ASG.

This website will keep you informed about the activities of the National Committee. Some contributions will be published in the ASG's bulletin, GeoAgenda.
